As the Chief Advancement Officer (CAO), Evan Lewis oversees all external relations and philanthropic efforts for the school. The CAO is a newly created position that will strengthen PHA’s fundraising, development, and communication capacities and is embedded in the Board of Trustees’ plans to ensure the long-term sustainability of the school.
Evan is deeply committed to educational equity, social activism, and empowering marginalized communities. He has spent the past 15 years working at the forefront of national movements to eradicate the academic achievement gap, reform educational policy, and reframe the national dialogue around the fates and futures of under-served student populations.
Evan was a founding leader of Urban Prep Academies, where he worked to build and sustain a network of tuition-free, public, college-prep schools for boys in low-income communities in Chicago. During Evan's tenure at Urban Prep, the organization achieved remarkable results including a 100% college admissions rate for graduates.
Evan's work has been featured by national media outlets including the New York Times, The Oprah Winfrey Show, CNN, and PBS. Evan studied Philosophy at Cornell University before launching a career as an educator and social entrepreneur.
