In Paik

Education: BA in Sociology from University of Chicago; MA in Student Personnel Administration from Columbia University, Teachers College; PhD work in Sociology at Cornell University

Previous work experience: I spent 10 years working in student affairs, which included positions at Columbia University, the University of Michigan, Chapman University, Barnard College, and the Anti-Defamation League. My experiences working in student leadership and organizational development motivated my pursuit of a PhD with a focus on gender and racial identity and their intersection, bias and discrimination mechanisms, and work and educational achievement. And prior to joining PHA, I worked at Harvard University to link university scholars and researchers to community organizers and journalists in order to change the public narrative on poverty, housing, and mass incarceration in the US.

Hobbies and interests: I love singing, especially jazz and belty musical theater.

Why did you choose to work at Prospect Hill Academy?: I came upon this position through my own engagement with the school as a PHA parent and organizer. My work is a way of thanking those who empowered me as a parent volunteer and leader. Here at PHA, there is such a strong sense of community and so much potential, and through working together as partners - parents & families, teachers & staff, and students - we can realize that potential.
