Elana Mayer

Education:
I have an M.Ed. in pre-K-12 World Language Education from the University of Maryland and a B.A. in History and a B.A. in Spanish from the University of Maryland.

Previous Experience:
I worked as a Spanish teacher in Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) in Maryland for two years. Before that, I was a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Puebla, Mexico.

Hobbies and interests:
I practice capoeira, a Brazilian martial art, three to four times per week. I also enjoy cycling, cooking, watching movies, seeing live music, reading, spending time outside, kickboxing, and traveling.

Why did you choose to work at Prospect Hill Academy?:
I chose to work at Prospect Hill Academy because I am excited to be a part of a new Total Physical Response Storytelling curriculum for teaching Spanish at the novice level. I am also very enthusiastic about Restorative Justice practice and Culturally Responsive Teaching. I am new to Massachusetts, but I share PHA's mission, beliefs, and values.
