UE Family Communication 4.26.24

This sense of energy has been especially palpable amongst our fourth-grade scholars who are preparing to head to Nature’s Classroom next week.  During their three days and two nights on the trip, they will learn more about the natural environment and build their independence, as many of them will experience their first extended stay away from family. This is a wonderful PHA tradition, and we are so excited to hear about all the wonderful memories they are sure to make!

Our fifth graders also had a unique opportunity this week when Channel 5 meteorologist David Williams visited them. Mr. Williams shared information about his work and added insight to the research many of the students have been doing on natural disasters resulting from extreme weather. As an added bonus, they got the opportunity to record a “Wake Up Call,” which a few of you may have caught when watching this morning’s Eye Opener!

I would be remiss not to mention our fantastic sixth-grade scholars, who have so clearly become the true student leaders of the campus.  It has been such a joy to watch as they have grown into middle school scholars, truly ready to take on life’s next milestones. From conversations about how they prepare for math MCAS to their insights on planning for end-of-the-year celebrations, their thoughtful consideration and budding leadership shine through in so many ways!

As we move forward into the remainder of the academic year,  please continue to reach out and share your insights and ideas.  Your involvement and feedback are invaluable to this community, and I look forward to our continued partnership. Have a wonderful weekend!

Be well,

Amy O’Connell

Upper Elementary Interim Principal
