Discovering His Career Path, Finding His Voice (via www.assumption.edu)

“It’s one of the best feelings ever,” says Gemaers Dorvil ’19 of the moment he discovers a solution to a software application he’s working on. Gemaers came to Assumption with a general interest in engineering, but it wasn’t until he took his first computer science course that he believed he found the right career path.

Jorge Vega, of Brockton, Massachusetts, has been selected as the fifteenth annual recipient of the Associates of the Boston Public Library Writer-in-Residence fellowship. He was enthusiastically chosen as the 2018–19 winner by a panel of judges—including authors, editors, literary agents, booksellers and librarians—in a blind judging process, based on the strength of his proposed young-adult novel submission, Bottled.
