For their recent "Meaning of Life" unit, 9th grade English students participated in an intergenerational project with the residents of JFK Senior Living Center across the street from the 7-12 campus.

On May 13th, students in AP Biology and AP Computer Science (Java) visited Harvard Forest, Harvard University's 4,000-acre ecological research area located in Petersham, MA, to learn from the scientists how they collect, analyze, and use data in their work. Students visited the sites where the data they will work with in their final class project was collected, and learned more about the background and mission of Harvard Forest.

Our 9th graders had an impactful hands-on learning experience while on their three-day overnight trip to The Farm School in Athol on May 7-9th. Students were tasked with running the various aspects of the farm: cooking meals, working in the garden, the forest, and the barn, and caring for farm animals.

During the last week in April, our 4th graders attended Outdoor Classroom, a three-day, two-night outdoor education program that focuses on environmental science, social-emotional learning, and adventure education. For many of our students, it was both their first time being away from home and being immersed in nature. They had a blast!

Throughout the school year, as our seniors prepare to make their final college decisions, they have been visiting college campuses, participating in scheduled visits with college reps at PHA, and attending local college fairs. Most recently, on April 9th, PHA 11th and 12th graders enjoyed a group visit to UMass Lowell with their college counselors.
