Welcome Message from the Principal

Dear PHA Upper Elementary Families,
I hope this message finds you well and enjoying the beginning of another exciting school year. It is with deep gratitude and genuine joy that I write to you as the Principal of the Upper Elementary Campus at Prospect Hill Academy Charter School. Whether you are a new family joining us this year or a returning one, I want to warmly welcome you to our community.
I am truly honored to serve this incredible group of students, families, and educators. PHA is a special place—filled with curiosity, care, and commitment—and I feel so fortunate to be a part of it. Every day, I’m inspired by the passion of our teachers, the energy of our students, and the deep wisdom and strength that our families bring to this community.
At the Upper Elementary Campus, we focus on providing a rigorous and relevant academic experience that meets students where they are developmentally. These years —grades 3 through 5—are a powerful time of growth. Children begin to move from “learning to read” to “reading to learn,” and with that shift comes increased confidence, independence, and critical thinking. Our instructional program supports this transformation, helping students take on more challenging work, build responsibility, and see themselves as part of a broader world beyond home and school.
Just as importantly, we believe that education is a shared journey. I look forward to partnering closely with you to ensure that PHA is a place where every student can thrive. Together, we will work to provide the best possible education for your child—one that builds on the rich knowledge, culture, and values that each of our families contributes to our community. Your voice matters, and your presence is always welcome here.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out, stop by the office, or drop me a note. Whether you have a question, an idea, or simply want to introduce yourself, I would love to connect. Our doors are open, and we are always eager to strengthen the connections that make our school stronger.
With appreciation and excitement for the year ahead,
Amy O'Connell
